This section is dedicated to digital art, an artistic expression on par with painting or sculpture. In fact, there are no distinctions between creativity on the computer and creativity with a brush. The course of time together with the evolution of techniques has enabled millions of people to express themselves freely.
In digital art, as in other forms, movements are taking shape, which in part refer to contemporary pictorial currents and in part are developing new concepts. There are still some purists, perhaps more accurately called “art fundamentalists”, who are skeptical of this art form. They claim that technology replaces the craft of the artist; in reality, however, knowing how to use a computer to make graphics requires competencies and skills equal to those of the painter who creates on the canvas. It should not be imagined that the computer replaces man. To create art, you need someone to program the computer, and, above all, the person must be a creative being. Fantasy, in fact, is still an added value and not simply a human feature. The ability to convey feelings, sensations, and passions is fully intact. Looking at a work of digital art makes us dream, ponder, and immerse ourselves in our most intimate feelings, like painting. And this happens either in front of the work of a painter of the late 19th c. or before an object of pop art. Every historical period that has characterized art through the centuries has had its detractors and its collectors. We believe that there are no longer discriminators. So, full dignity and equal space, in a gallery where the common thread is exclusively that of engendering emotions in the viewer.
Digital art is a work or an artistic practice that uses digital technology as part of the creative or exhibition process. Since the 1970s, various names have been used to describe this process, including “computer art” and “multimedia art“. Digital art is often included in the term umbrella new media art.
