Hathras is a work from Arpita Gaidhane’s collection

Hathras. It is a work with a strong symbolic meaning, it presents the fear, the terror that sometimes takes women, in any part of the world they live, for the blind and absurd violence that men exert on them. The absurd thing is that we are not talking about enemies in a war, but about living beings that make up the same race, the two essential components of the same universe. Yet the years, centuries, and millennia pass and history repeats itself, with an impressive cadence without any distinction of skin color or language, or religion.

As the artist herself says: “I created this painting, at the same time as the episode of Hathras, (Indian television series) I wanted to paint the fire that consumes and destroys and the one that transforms and ignites. Violence against women is as old as humanity itself, yet resilience continues, to speak, to react, to be equal ”.

Hathras,è un lavoro di Arpita Gaidhane

Hathras.
