Let It Be 2. The original inspiration dates back to the single Hey Jude/Revolution and its promotional video clip shot on September 4, 1968, under the direction of Michael Lindsay-Hogg in the Twickenham studio. On that occasion, the group was supposed to play in front of a limited number of selected guests, but word of mouth brought together a much larger audience than expected. This situation awakened in the group the enthusiasm for live performances and the desire to perform in concert again.

Let It Be 2. L’ispirazione originale risale al singolo Hey Jude / Revolution e al relativo videoclip promozionale girato il 4 settembre 1968 sotto la direzione di Michael Lindsay-Hogg nello studio di Twickenham; in quella circostanza il gruppo avrebbe dovuto suonare davanti a un numero limitato di ospiti selezionati, ma il passaparola ha riunito un pubblico molto più numeroso del previsto che si è raccolto quasi a contatto con i musicisti mentre venivano filmati durante le prove di Hey Jude. Questa situazione ha risvegliato nel gruppo l’entusiasmo per le esibizioni dal vivo e il desiderio di esibirsi di nuovo in un concerto.
L’idea di base era che – come il primo album, Please Please Me, registrato in un’unica sessione di dodici ore nel 1962 – i Beatles avrebbero dovuto abbandonare le apparecchiature elettroniche e le sovraincisioni a favore delle registrazioni dal vivo.
